Job Summary:
In this exciting role, you will play a vital role in supporting our experienced immigration attorneys by handling various aspects of complex immigration cases. You will be responsible for conducting legal research, preparing and drafting legal documents, analyzing case scenarios, and assisting with client communication and case management.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth legal research on relevant immigration laws, regulations, and precedents.
- Prepare and draft comprehensive legal documents, including petitions,applications, affidavits, and briefs, adhering to strict legal guidelines and formatting requirements.
- Analyze complex factual scenarios and identify relevant legal issues to determine eligibility and develop effective case strategies.
- Gather and organize comprehensive evidence packages, ensuring accuracy and completeness for various immigration applications.
- Communicate effectively with clients, explaining complex legal concepts in clear and concise language, addressing their concerns, and managing expectations.
- Interview clients to gather detailed information and prepare them for interviews and hearings.
- Assist attorneys in representing clients at immigration interviews and hearings,presenting evidence and advocating for their rights.
- Manage assigned caseload independently, prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines,and keeping attorneys informed of case progress.
- Maintain meticulous case files and electronically store documents using designated legal software.
- Stay current with evolving immigration laws and regulations through ongoing professional development and training.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field, or minimum 1 year of relevant experience in immigration law.
- Strong understanding of US immigration laws, regulations, and procedures,including various visa categories, inadmissibility grounds, and deportation/removal proceedings.
- Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and navigate complex legal issues.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear,concise, and legally sound documents.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Proficient in legal research databases and case management software.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Fluency in a Foreign language is a strong asset (not a requirement but preferred).
